2023 Interior Design Color Trends

Let me preface this post by saying this; color trends are just that - a trend. They are a fun way to be introduced to new ideas but by no means do they decide what you should or shouldn’t like. Interior Design, like anything else, comes down to personal taste and preferences. Ultimately, your home’s interior design should be a reflection of you and be full of things that bring YOU joy!

2023 is building on the nature-inspired colors of 2022 by keeping things warm and earthy but adding in some bold hues to really brighten things up.

We’re going to keep it simple today and only look at the Color of The Year from the top interior paint companies. Lets kick this party off with with the bold colors:

Pantone color of the year 2023 viva magenta interior design

Pantone ‘Viva Magenta’

Bright and pop-y, this color can be used as a joy inspiring accent. Add in a splash with throw pillows and accent décor, or, if you’re feeling a little bolder, add magenta furniture or an accent wall.

Benjamine Moore interior design color of the year 2023 raspberry blush

Benjamine Moore ‘Raspberry Blush

This fun hue makes you want to smile! Not quite a red but not commiting to the orange family, this cozy color can go anywhere in your home. It pairs well with blacks for a strong, modern look or you can put it alongside warm neutrals and rich wood tones for that warm interior that invites you to come in and stay awhile.

Krylon paint interior design color of the year 2023 Spanish Moss

Krylon ‘Spanish Moss’

This green is a fantastic way to add a good strong color while still keeping your home feeling bright and airy. Not a true green (think Kelly Green) and not as earthy as olive, this shade perfectly reflects the fresh green of summer that we all love so much.
Can be used as an accent color or as the wall and trim color for an entire room, this color pairs well with both cool and warm neutrals.

Bridging the gap between bold colors and the neutrals is some softer shades this season.

Sherwin-Williams interior design color of the year 2023 Redend Point

Sherwin Williams ‘Redend Point’

Sherwin Williams shade of the year is giving major desert sand at sunset vibes and I am here for it! While it is a pinkish hue, this color doesn’t read as overly feminine and can therefor be used throughout a family home.
This color is super user friendly and can be used on floor to ceiling, as a cabinetry color (as pictured) as well as accent color brought in through décor and furniture. Plays well with both neutral and warm tones.

Farrow & Ball interior design paint color 2023 Eddy

Farrow & Ball ‘ Eddy’

If you are looking for a color to make your space feel both welcoming and calming, look no further that this soothing shade of green. This shade is works well for wall in spaces like bedroom and bathrooms. Also a great shade for accent furniture as well.

Valspar paint interior design color of the year 2023 Gentle violet

Valspar ‘Gentle Violet’

Purples - they are a controversial choice for wall colors. If you love purple but are wanting to avoid your house looking gaudy, try this light violet shade from Valspar.
It hints at being purple slightly and gives the space a soothing, fresh energy. Best paired with a true white, this color can be accented with both warm and cool colors.

Farrow & Ball Kittiwake

Farrow Ball didn’t do a specific ‘Color Of The Year’ but instead released 11 new shades. Both ‘Eddy’ & ‘Kittiwake are from that new collection.

Kittiwake is such a cool, crisp color. Makes me feel mountain creek vibes for sure. As shown in Farrow & Ball’s picture (left), it pairs beautifully with a clean white. That color combination makes a perfect setting for all those houseplants we all love.

Now for the light neutral of 2023. Drumroll please ….

Behr paint interior design color-of -the-year-2023 Blank-Canvas

Behr ‘Blank Canvas’

This color. I almost have no words I love it so much. I reminds me of one of my favorite paint colors to use in client’s homes, Benjamine Moore’s ‘Ashwood’.
What makes this neutral so incredible is it’s ability to pair with both warm tone and cool tone colors. Want to pair it with a charcoal gray and black for a modern look? Stunning!
Or would you prefer a more minimalistic cottage color palette featuring rust and greens? Blank Canvas will carry the team!

I would say that this paint is very aptly named!

I hope that you fell inspired by some of these 2023 color trends. Remember, it’s just paint or a piece of furniture and you can always change it so don’t be afraid to experiment a little!
