Meet your designer
Hello beautiful soul! My name is Kendra Wilmot and I am an Idaho native with a love of animals, food, music, and exploring new hobbies constantly. I currently live in Twin Falls, ID with my partner, Josh, & 3 rescue dogs.
As a Creative, decorating and changing the space around me always fascinated me. My childhood bedrooms were my place to experiment growing up (shout out to my parents for allowing me to be a constant whirlwind of creativity). I loved creating a space that represented my personality and included all the things I loved. In the early 2000s that was a purple and lime green color palette with rope light accents...not a
”trend” that I hope to see make a comeback any time soon!
I grew up playing piano and thought that music would be my creative career. I first went to college on a scholarship majoring in music but after 2 years I decided that teaching children and/or performing were not career options I really wanted to do. So I went into finance for the next decade.
I then decided to go for a bachelor’s degree in finance but 6 months in, I started to feel the same anxiety I had about music when I thought of it being my full-time job. My very sweet and supportive husband asked me what I really wanted to do for a career. I told him that my dream job would be to do the interior design but that I didn’t feel that was a feasible career option in little ‘ol Twin Falls, Idaho. He asked me why not and pointed out it was a more than achievable dream.
So I went for it! In 2020 I completed my official Interior Design Certification and haven’t looked back. I joined Josh in his painting business and learned even more about color in the practical world. I continued to hone my eye for color and interior styles working on our home and with clients.
What makes me the most excited when designing with a client is finding what they are passionate about! I believe that every home has a story and that that story reflects the people who have created that home.
I love to sit and connect with my clients, asking them questions that help me get to know them and what brings them joy. Learning where they like to travel, what kind of music they enjoy and a little of their personal background helps to build a foundation that we can then build on to create an interior design plan that is reflective of them and their lifestyle.
Every person knows what they don’t like, but not everyone knows how to find what they do like. One of my favorite parts of co-creating with my clients is seeing their inner designer come out. I love sharing and educating others to see things like undertones and to notice mirroring patterns in a room. Having a client say that the undertone of a slab of granite is “too green” against the other colors in their design brings me joy (it really is the little things for me!).
I truly believe that our surroundings impact us profoundly. Having a place that feels like you and is a safe place to come back to is pivotal for our emotional and mental health. When we have a sanctuary to return to, a place that allows us to let our hair down and be unashamedly ourselves, it empowers us to be able to show up and be our best selves.
So if you have a project that you have been wanting to do but feel a little lost, I would love to be your guide to creating your perfect space. We can create something magical together and have a good time along the way!
